Transfer News: Benfica Target Arokodare, Boniface Valued at €50M, Delap’s Chelsea Move Questioned

Portuguese side Benfica have joined the race to sign Tolu Arokodare after the Nigerian striker’s sensational season in Belgium.

Arokodare, who plays for KRC Genk, scored 21 goals in the 2024/2025 Belgian Pro League, ending as the league’s top scorer. Reports from Voetbalkrant confirm Benfica’s interest, with Genk reportedly open to selling if a strong offer is made.

The 24-year-old is currently in camp with the Super Eagles ahead of a friendly match against Russia on Friday.

Boniface Price Tag Revealed

Meanwhile, Victor Boniface could be on the move this summer, but it won’t come cheap.

Bayer Leverkusen have set a €50 million price tag on the Nigerian forward, who joined the German side in 2023. Although injuries affected his season, Boniface still managed 11 goals in 27 appearances.

Leverkusen are open to restructuring their squad after Xabi Alonso’s departure to Real Madrid.

Troy Deeney Criticizes Delap’s Chelsea Decision

In England, Troy Deeney has questioned Liam Delap’s decision to join Chelsea instead of Manchester United.

Delap, 22, is finalizing a move from Ipswich Town to Chelsea, but Deeney told talkSPORT he believes the striker would have developed better at Old Trafford.

“He’s missing a step in his development by choosing Chelsea,” Deeney said.

Rio Ferdinand Reacts to Frimpong Snub

Also making headlines, Rio Ferdinand has expressed disappointment over Jeremie Frimpong’s decision to join Liverpool over Manchester United.

The Dutch defender had been on United’s radar for months, but opted to move to Anfield instead.

“It hurts a little. He’s a perfect fit for Ruben Amorim’s system,” Ferdinand said.
