Transfer: Bayer Leverkusen Sign Flekken, Brentford Land Kelleher, Chelsea Eye Maignan
Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of goalkeeper Mark Flekken, paving the way for a series of goalkeeping moves across Europe.
In a swift response to Flekken’s departure, Brentford have secured the services of Liverpool’s Republic of Ireland international Caoimhín Kelleher in a deal reportedly worth £18 million.
The 25-year-old had drawn interest from Premier League sides including West Ham, Leeds United, and Bournemouth. With just a year left on his Liverpool contract, Kelleher opted for a new challenge in West London where he is expected to compete for the No. 1 shirt.
Chelsea Target AC Milan’s Mike Maignan
Chelsea have opened talks with AC Milan for a potential transfer of France international goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The 29-year-old, whose current deal with Milan runs until 2026, is yet to sign an extension, raising concerns within the Italian club over the risk of losing him for free next year.
According to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are looking to finalize a deal swiftly as the FIFA early transfer window (June 1–10) opens ahead of the Club World Cup.
Chelsea have reportedly turned their attention to Maignan due to underwhelming performances from current goalkeepers Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen. The situation has changed significantly now that Maignan is seen as potentially available.
However, a move could complicate Chelsea’s goalkeeping department. Djordje Petrovic and Kepa Arrizabalaga are set to return from loan spells, adding to an already crowded lineup at Stamford Bridge.
Maignan, who moved to Milan from Lille in 2021, recorded 13 clean sheets in the 2024–2025 Serie A season despite Milan finishing eighth on the table. A move to Stamford Bridge, especially with Champions League football on offer, could appeal to the Frenchman.
