“If Not Music, I’d Be a Preacher” – Bella Shmurda

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Bella Shmurda has shared an unexpected side of himself, revealing that he sees a deeper purpose beyond music—spirituality and motivation.

In a candid conversation on the latest episode of the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast with Joey Akan, the “Cash App” hitmaker opened up about what he believes is his true calling.

“Everybody has spirituality, you just have to discover it,” Bella said. “If I wasn’t an artist, I might be a preacher or motivational speaker. I feel like that is my purpose.”

Bella Shmurda explained that beyond the beats and fame, his goal has always been to uplift and connect with people on a deeper level, something he constantly tries to embed in his music.

“I easily cheer people up. I easily get to people’s deep part. That’s why I’m here. It reflects in my music. You can’t take that away from me.”

He emphasized that spirituality plays a major role in his songwriting process and overall sound, noting that listeners can feel the emotion and depth in his voice.

“When I’m writing, spirituality has to be there. Even in my voice, you can feel it,” he added.

Bella Shmurda’s revelation offers a refreshing look at how Afrobeats can be both soulful and conscious, and how artists like him are intentionally merging passion with purpose.
