Wife Forced to Strip Naked in Public for ‘Spiritual Cleansing’ After Husband Catches Her with Another Man in Kogi
According to local sources, the husband, furious after discovering his wife’s alleged affair, demanded that she undergo a public ritual to ‘cleanse’ her of the supposed spiritual impurity caused by her actions.
The ritual, which took place in a community in Kogi, involved the woman being made to strip in front of onlookers, leaving her humiliated as community members watched in disbelief.
This incident has drawn sharp criticism from residents and activists, who have called the act cruel and degrading. Many have questioned the use of such practices, arguing that they violate human dignity and have no place in modern society. “This is wickedness,” one local resident said. “There are better ways to handle such matters without shaming someone publicly.”
The Okun Development Association, a prominent group in the region, has condemned the incident, linking it to the broader issue of rising insecurity and outdated cultural practices in Okunland.
They urged authorities to investigate and ensure justice for the woman.
When contacted, Kogi State Police spokesperson William Aya said he was unaware of the incident but promised to look into it. No arrests have been reported at this time.
This troubling case has reignited debates about gender-based violence and the need for education to end harmful traditions in Nigeria’s north-central region.
