Peter Obi Jumped from APGA to PDP to Labour—and Now to Indonesia, Sowunmi Fires Back at X User
Abuja, Nigeria – Political analyst and former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, Segun Sowunmi, has sparked conversation online following his pointed remarks about former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Sowunmi’s statement came in response to a user on X (formerly Twitter), identified as King Solomon, who had criticized him and fellow political commentator, Daniel Bwala. In defending himself and Bwala, Sowunmi took the opportunity to question Obi’s political consistency.
“Your @PeterObi was busy jumping from APGA to PDP to Labour and now to Indonesia while I was standing firm with Nigeria,” Sowunmi wrote in a post dated June 12, 2025.
“At least I and Bwala always stand by our country while yours suddenly dresses like an Indonesian. Incredible joker.”
The comment appears to reference Obi’s well-documented political journey, having moved from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and later joining the Labour Party, under which he contested the 2023 presidential election. The reference to “Indonesia” seems to allude to either a recent public appearance or online photo of Obi dressed in an outfit resembling Indonesian cultural attire.
While Peter Obi has not responded to the jab, Sowunmi’s post has ignited mixed reactions on social media. Supporters of the former Anambra governor defended his political moves as strategic, while critics echoed Sowunmi’s claims of inconsistency.
Political analysts note that as the 2027 general elections draw nearer, online spats such as this may become more common, reflecting deeper tensions and realignments within Nigeria’s political landscape.
