Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Kogi Residence Attacked Again as Police Arrest Suspect
Tension has gripped Kogi State as Senator Natasha H. Akpoti-Uduaghan’s country home in Ihima, Okehi LGA came under violent attack again on Tuesday night, barely two months after a similar assault.
Eyewitnesses say a group of suspected gunmen stormed the property, shattering windows and attempting more damage before being repelled by police, local vigilantes, and youths.
One suspect, Suberu Jose, was caught during the chaos. Known in the community as a suspected ritualist, Jose reportedly confessed to his involvement in three previous attacks on the senator’s home and is allegedly connected to political enemies.
The suspect was nearly lynched by a mob before police intervened. A cutlass and charms were found on him, further fueling fears that the motive wasn’t just criminal — but deeply political.
This fresh attack comes amid rising controversy around Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who faces two federal criminal charges linked to her sexual harassment accusations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which earned her a 6-month suspension from the Senate.
In her official statement, she declared:
“Our resolve to speak truth to power and advocate for our people must not be met with terror. We call on security agencies to ensure thorough investigations and bring all perpetrators to justice,” the statement read.”
The senator vowed not to be silenced.
