Tension Escalates: Israel Strikes Nuclear Facility, Missile Launchers in Tehran Overnight
By NewsVista Reporter | June 24, 2025
Tehran, Iran – In a bold and highly coordinated overnight operation, Israeli fighter jets launched extensive airstrikes on Iranian territory, targeting several strategic military installations, including a nuclear research headquarters and multiple missile launch sites.
According to Newsvista monitoring of international security developments, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed the precision strikes in a statement reported by The Times of Israel. Over 100 advanced munitions were deployed in the operation, which is now being described as one of Israel’s most aggressive military responses against Iran in recent history.
Major Targets Hit in Tehran
During a press briefing, IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin disclosed that one of the key targets was the headquarters of Iran’s SPND nuclear program—a facility suspected of being linked to Iran’s controversial nuclear weapons development.
In addition to the nuclear site, Israeli jets reportedly hit several weapons manufacturing hubs in central Tehran. The assault also destroyed eight ballistic missile launchers stationed in western Iran. These launchers, according to the IDF, were “primed for immediate launch” in what appeared to be a pre-emptive strike to prevent a wider-scale missile attack on Israel.
“These were precise strikes aimed at neutralising real and immediate threats,” Brig. Gen. Defrin stated, without confirming if further military actions are being planned.
Rising Tensions Despite Ceasefire Claims
The strikes come in the wake of Iran’s recent declaration of a ceasefire following a 12-day conflict. However, Newsvista gathered that Iran’s continued missile positioning and weapons activities raised concerns within Israeli defense circles, prompting this aggressive move.
Although the full extent of the damage remains unclear, the decision to target high-security zones within Tehran signifies a dramatic shift in the conflict’s scale. No formal response has yet been issued by Iranian authorities, but the situation remains highly volatile, with global powers closely monitoring the unfolding developments.
Security analysts warn that any retaliatory move from Tehran could escalate the conflict further, potentially drawing in regional and global actors.
