Betty Akeredolu Reacts After The Property Of Obi’s Younger Brother Was Demolished In Lagos State

Outrage and Sympathy: Betty Akeredolu Reacts as Peter Obi’s Brother’s Property Is Demolished in Lagos
A wave of public outcry continues to trail the recent demolition of a property belonging to the younger brother of Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State. The incident, which reportedly occurred in Lagos State, has sparked heated conversations on social media, with prominent Nigerians weighing in—including former First Lady of Ondo State, Betty Akeredolu.
According to a post shared by Peter Obi on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the structure was brought down without any legal justification. He expressed deep concern about what he described as a growing culture of impunity and disregard for citizens’ rights.
In Obi’s words, “I am just shocked. How did Nigeria get to this level of lawlessness? What kind of country are we trying to build when the rights of citizens, their lives, their properties, and their voices are trampled upon daily?”
In response to Obi’s statement, Betty Akeredolu took to her verified X account to express solidarity with the former governor. According to NewsVista‘s findings, she shared her own experience with what she called “senseless destruction,” recalling how the Ondo State government allegedly demolished a monument built in memory of the Owo massacre victims—a project spearheaded by her late husband, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
She criticized Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for authorizing the demolition of the monument, which she described as a sacred tribute to innocent worshippers who lost their lives in the tragic attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo.
Quoting her directly, she said: “That monument, built by my late husband, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, a son of Owo, was a solemn tribute to lives violently cut short in a house of worship.”
These reactions come amid growing concerns about government overreach and the erosion of legal processes in property-related disputes across the country.
