They called my mother, while she was on the phone, they continued cutting me so she could hear it – Man

A harrowing story of survival has emerged from Edo State, where 32-year-old author and farmer Wisdom Amedu fell victim to a terrifying home invasion by armed kidnappers. According to a NewsVista reporter, the attack, which occurred around 1 a.m., left Amedu battered and emotionally scarred, as he relived the torment not just physically—but also psychologically.

The invaders stormed Amedu’s residence after fatally shooting one of his dogs. As panic filled the air, Amedu remained composed, pleading with the assailants to spare his pregnant wife. But instead of showing mercy, the attackers responded with words meant to inflict maximum fear.

“They told my wife they would rip the baby out of her if we didn’t cooperate,” Amedu recalled, the horror still fresh in his voice. The threats were laced with cruelty, as the kidnappers ignored the woman’s condition and used her vulnerability as a weapon.

Amedu’s attempt to explain that he was just a farmer only made matters worse. Armed with machetes, the men unleashed a brutal assault on him, demanding cash and information about other occupants of the house. When he mentioned his driver was present, they intensified their beating until the driver came out of hiding.

The nightmare didn’t end there. The trio—Amedu, his wife, and the driver—were blindfolded and dragged into a forest. One of the kidnappers, Amedu noticed, wore a Nigerian Army uniform and barked commands throughout their captivity, suggesting either impersonation or possible links to the military.

The torture continued in the forest. In one of the most chilling parts of the ordeal, Amedu revealed how the attackers called his mother while they were cutting him.

“They called my mother. And while she was on the phone, they continued cutting me so she could hear me scream,” he said. “My mother sent N1 million. After injecting us, they moved us to an uncompleted building where we were held. Thankfully, soldiers were already searching for them by that time.”

The Edo State Police Command has launched an investigation, particularly focusing on the disturbing claim of a uniformed individual among the kidnappers. The incident has reignited public concern over growing insecurity and the possible infiltration of criminal elements into the security forces.
