Soldiers Kill Terror Kingpin, Recover Weapons

The Defence Headquarters said troops have neutralised several terrorists, including a notorious kingpin known as Mai Dada and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition.
According to a statement on Sunday by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, the coordinated operations took place between June 25 and 26, 2025, and involved multiple theatres in the North East, North West, North Central, and South South regions.
Kangye said in the North West, troops of Operation Fasan Yama under 1 Brigade killed Mai Dada, a notorious terror leader, during a counterattack in Maru LGA of Zamfara State.

Enugu Gov Dispels Tax Hike Rumours

The Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has again said that his administration did not increase taxes in the state as speculated by some people, describing it as a āmisconceptionā.
The governor rather said that what his government simply did was to expand the stateās tax net by bringing in those who were not captured or who were not paying their taxes.
Mbah disclosed this while answering questions from the members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Enugu on Saturday.
Ex-Reps Aspirant Denies Involvement In Deadly Communal Clash In Cross River

Pius Abang, a cocoa merchant and former aspirant for the House of Representatives seat in the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency, has denied allegations linking him to a deadly communal clash that reportedly left at least four people dead last week.
The violence, which broke out between the Boje and Isobendeghe communities in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, has been attributed by stakeholders to longstanding tensions over land ownership.
Abang is among those reportedly accused of instigating the conflict.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party has said it will be huge relief for members,Ā if its 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso joins the ruling All Progressives Congress.
This is contained in a statement by the NNPP National Secretary, MrĀ Oginni Olaposi on Sunday in Lagos.
Olaposi was reacting to theĀ resignation of APC national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje and speculations that he quit the ruling party over alleged move by Kwankwaso to join them.
