“They’ll Try to Start Crisis in ADC” — Deji Adeyanju Fires Shot at Wike, Abure, Apapa Over New Opposition Coalition

According to a NewsVista report, human rights activist Deji Adeyanju has thrown a subtle but sharp dig at political heavyweights Nyesom Wike, Julius Abure, and Lamidi Apapa, following the decision by a new opposition coalition to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform.

In a cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter), Adeyanju wrote: “They will be so confused right now and thinking of how to start crisis in ADC.”

The remark, which quickly gained traction online, is widely interpreted as a swipe at figures linked to internal conflicts in both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP). Wike, a central player in PDP’s past leadership clashes, and LP leaders Abure and Apapa, who publicly battled for control of the party, are seen as symbols of internal political strife.

Adeyanju’s comment came shortly after the opposition coalition — made up of activists, civil society groups, and politicians — endorsed ADC as its unified base ahead of the 2027 elections. The move is being hailed as an attempt to build a credible alternative to the ruling APC.

While Adeyanju did not name names beyond his tweet, the message was clear: those associated with party divisions may now target the ADC, intentionally or not.

Supporters of the coalition say the shift to ADC is strategic, but Adeyanju’s warning underscores a deeper concern — that unity in Nigerian politics can be easily disrupted from within.

As 2027 draws nearer, the ADC’s real challenge may not be external opposition, but internal resilience.
