Drama As Popular PDP Governor’s Aide Suddenly Resigns, Returns to APC

According to a NewsVista reporter, Letep Dabang, Special Adviser on Politics to Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, has officially resigned from the cabinet — and his next political move is already making waves.

Dabang’s resignation was confirmed in a letter dated June 30, 2025, which surfaced in Jos on July 2. In the letter addressed to the Chief of Staff, he thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve both as Political Adviser and as a former campaign director for the PDP during the last general elections.

But what has really stirred the political waters is Dabang’s swift return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) — the same party he left in 2021.

“Yes, he’s back with us,” APC state chairman Rufus Bature confirmed. “In politics, there are no permanent enemies — only permanent interests.”

Dabang, once a strong figure within the PDP, had played a central role in Plateau politics for years. His return to APC, just ahead of key political realignments, is seen as a major shift in the state’s power dynamics.

This move follows a string of recent political resignations across Nigeria, including top aides in Anambra and Akwa Ibom, further fueling talk of a broader realignment ahead of 2027.

The big question now: What is Dabang planning next?
