Aisha Yesufu Responds After Rotimi Amaechi Claimed Nigerians Are Too Docile
Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, sparked heated reactions on Thursday, July 3, after publicly accusing Nigerians of being too passive in the face of economic hardship and elite oppression.
Speaking at an event in Abuja, Amaechi lamented that while only a tiny group of elitesâfewer than 100,000âcontinue to control the nation’s wealth, over 200 million Nigerians simply watch and grumble from the sidelines.
According to a NewsVista reporter, Amaechi declared: âNigeria is the most docile society Iâve seen. Any revolution without blood is a failure. If you want to stop Tinubu, it must be Nigerians versus the bandits at the ballot.â
But the former ministerâs comments didnât sit well with many, including vocal activist Aisha Yesufu, who slammed what she described as hypocrisy from politicians.
In a scathing reply, Yesufu questioned why politicians expect everyday citizens to lead protests while they remain tucked away in luxury.
She wrote: âI find politicians who sit in their comfy homes calling citizens docile very hypocritical. What stops you from leading the protest? Stop the cho cho cho and lead protest joor!â
The heated exchange has reignited conversations about leadership, accountability, and the growing frustration among Nigerians over the rising cost of living and political indifference.
