JUST IN: Nigerian Governor Increases Corps Members Allowance, Details of New Amount Emerge

According to NewsVista, corps members serving in Akwa Ibom State are in for a major financial uplift as Governor Umo Eno has approved a fourfold increase in their monthly state allowance—from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000. The new stipend takes effect from August 1, 2025.

Governor Eno made the announcement during the State Delivery Meeting at Government House, Uyo, stating the increment is aimed at supporting corps members alongside the proposed ₦77,000 Federal Government allowance.

“We must continue to encourage and support them,” he said, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to youth welfare.

The move follows his recent approval of the reconstruction of the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ikot Itie Idung, which has been applauded by stakeholders.

With over 10,000 corps members deployed to the state yearly, observers say the allowance hike and improved infrastructure place Akwa Ibom among the most NYSC-friendly states in Nigeria.
