“I Can Never Relocate to Nigeria Again” — UK-Based Nigerian Shares Shocking Truth About Failed Return Plans
According to a NewsVista report, a Nigerian man living in the UK has sparked mixed reactions online after boldly declaring he will never relocate permanently to Nigeria. In a video interview posted by @91productionsuk on TikTok, the man explained that his lifestyle no longer aligns with that of the average Nigerian.
He stated clearly that while he may visit occasionally for holidays, moving back to Nigeria is completely off the table for him. His reason? Several of his friends who made the attempt regretted it deeply.
“A lot of them were duped. Many didn’t make it far. Thankfully, their wives stayed behind in the UK,” he said in the viral video. He added that his “ways are different” and adjusting to life in Nigeria would be like starting all over again.
The video triggered widespread discussion in the comments, with many Nigerians sharing their own bitter experiences with relocation. Some agreed that without a solid plan and financial backup, retiring in Nigeria is nearly impossible.
One commenter wrote, “Relocating back home in old age is hard. If you didn’t invest early, it’s not realistic.” Others blamed poor planning, while a few insisted that with the right strategy, moving back can still work.
This story echoes growing concerns among Nigerians in the diaspora, especially retirees, about the rising cost of living, lack of infrastructure, and unstable systems back home.
