My Mother-in-Law Said I Must Sleep With My Husband’s Cousin If I Want Twins

I never imagined my search for a child would turn into this level of madness.

My husband and I have been married for three years without a child. We’ve done medical tests — both of us are fine. But his family, especially my mother-in-law, keeps whispering that it’s “spiritual delay.”

Last month, she invited me to the village. I thought it was for prayers or maybe herbs.

Instead, she sat me down and said something that left me numb.

“In our family, twins are a spiritual blessing that runs through the cousin line,” she said.
“If you want twins, you must sleep with your husband’s cousin — just once. We’ll keep it between us.”

I thought I didn’t hear correctly. But she was serious. She even introduced me to the cousin — a man I barely know — and told me not to tell my husband.

I cried. I begged her to understand. But she warned me that if I don’t do it, I may never give birth in their family — and my husband may soon be “advised” to take a second wife.

I returned to the city broken. Do I tell my husband and risk destroying his family ties? Or stay quiet and keep being pressured to do the unthinkable?

This is not tradition. This is manipulation. And I’m tired of being treated like a vessel instead of a human being.
