“I’ll Give You ₦1M”: Ighalo Promises Nigerian Influencer Cash if He Gets Name of His Club
According to a NewsVista reporter, Nigerian football star Odion Ighalo is spending his off-season break in Nigeria — and making headlines not just for football, but for a playful ₦1 million challenge.
The former Super Eagles striker, fresh off a relegation season with Saudi club Al-Wehda, was spotted around Lagos and Abuja, celebrating his birthday, hanging out with football colleagues, and even hosting influencer Carterefe at his mansion.
In a light-hearted moment captured on TikTok, Ighalo promised Carterefe ₦1 million plus a jersey — if he could correctly name the club he currently plays for. The influencer guessed “Hilala,” coming close to Al-Hilal (Ighalo’s previous club), but missed the mark. Ighalo laughed it off, but fans online criticized Carterefe for not doing his homework.
Beyond that, Ighalo gave viewers a glimpse into his luxury lifestyle, including a mini football pitch and private cinema room in his Lekki home — leaving Carterefe in awe. The entertainer jokingly declared that his own child must play football to enjoy that kind of wealth.
The 36-year-old striker is now a free agent, with his contract at Al-Wehda officially expired as of June 30. While he hasn’t announced his next club, many believe he’ll remain in the Saudi Pro League — unless he decides to hang up his boots.
