2027 Drama: Why Atiku Left PDP and Tinubu May Complete Full 8 Years — Bode George Spills
According to a NewsVista reporter, former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Bode George, has broken his silence on why Atiku Abubakar exited the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 elections — and why President Tinubu may likely serve two full terms.
In a trending interview on Thursday night, George revealed that Atiku’s decision to defect stems from the PDP constitution, which, according to him, does not permit a northerner to run for president in 2027 — a key reason Atiku reportedly aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He criticized Atiku and others for quietly joining a coalition without officially resigning, stating bluntly:
“They manipulated 2023. Power must now remain in the South.”
George argued that since former President Buhari, a northerner, ruled for eight years, a southern candidate should do the same — implying that Tinubu may complete his own 8-year run unless there’s a serious political shift.
Meanwhile, former Benue governor, Samuel Ortom, also weighed in during a separate interview, saying he couldn’t support Atiku in 2023 due to what he called “internal betrayal” and a lack of fairness within the PDP.
George also didn’t hold back in condemning the Nigerian police for sealing the PDP national secretariat recently, calling it an abuse of power and warning the government not to “turn Nigeria into Russia.”
The tension within PDP and shifting alliances suggest that 2027 may be one of the most unpredictable elections yet.
