Breaking: US President Trump Diagnosed with Chronic Venous Insufficiency

In a recent health update that caught many by surprise, the White House has confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) — a common vascular condition often seen in adults over 70.

The diagnosis was made following concerns raised by the president after noticeable swelling in his legs in recent weeks.

During a press briefing on Thursday, July 17, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt read a note from Trump’s physician, Capt. Sean Barbabella, who led the evaluation at the White House Medical Unit.

“Bilateral lower extremity venous Doppler ultrasounds revealed chronic venous insufficiency,” Barbabella’s statement read. “There was no evidence of arterial disease, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or systemic illness. The president’s lab results were within normal range.”

The 79-year-old commander-in-chief also underwent an echocardiogram to rule out heart failure or kidney complications. According to doctors, no signs of heart disease or renal impairment were detected.

What is Chronic Venous Insufficiency?

Chronic venous insufficiency is a vascular condition where the vein valves in the legs don’t function properly, leading to blood pooling in the lower extremities. It’s often marked by:

  • Swelling in the ankles and legs

  • Leg cramps or aching

  • Varicose veins

  • Skin discoloration

  • Fatigue or heaviness in the legs

While CVI is typically non-life-threatening, it can worsen without treatment. Management may include medications, compression therapy, or minor procedures in more advanced cases.

Dr. Jeremy Faust of Harvard Medical School assured that the condition is not alarming, stating that it’s fairly routine for individuals in the president’s age group.

Trump Not Investigating Tinubu, White House Clarifies

In a separate development, NewsVista debunks a viral claim circulating on social media alleging that President Trump has ordered an investigation into President Bola Tinubu’s academic records at Chicago State University.

According to U.S. government sources, no such directive exists, and the claim has been fact-checked as false.

This clarification follows months of controversy surrounding President Tinubu’s educational background, which became a focal point during and after Nigeria’s 2023 general election.
