Businesswoman Gets Letter From Her Landlord As He Increases Rent From N250k To N350k

According to a NewsVista report, a Nigerian businesswoman has gone viral on TikTok after revealing how her landlord suddenly increased her shop rent from N250,000 to N350,000.

The lady, known as @makayscloset on TikTok, shared a video showing the letter she received from her landlord. In the video, she expressed frustration, saying she had only just arrived at her store that morning when she got the shocking notice.

“They just increased our rent from N250k to N350k. Is this how we’re supposed to survive as business owners?” she lamented.

She also noted that her business — selling items like slippers — barely makes enough profit to justify such a steep increase in rent.

The clip has sparked a wave of reactions online, with many Nigerians in the comment section sharing similar experiences.

One commenter wrote, “Mine increased from 500k to 800k. Omo, I’m tired.”
Another advised, “Just move your store home, stock up a room, and focus on online orders.”

Others blamed the system for stifling small businesses, citing rising rent, transportation costs, and inflation as barriers to long-term success.

This growing frustration highlights a larger issue facing entrepreneurs across Nigeria—skyrocketing operational costs with little support or stability in sight.
