President Tinubu to Visit Dantata Family in Kano After Billionaire’s Death
According to a NewsVista reporter, President Bola Tinubu is set to visit the family of the late Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, in Kano on Friday, July 18, 2025.
The announcement came from the presidency through Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s special adviser on information and strategy. He explained that the visit was necessary, as the president was out of the country when Dantata passed away.
Onanuga noted that Tinubu had previously sent a federal delegation, led by the Minister of Defence, to attend the burial ceremony in Saudi Arabia as a mark of respect for the late icon.
Alhaji Aminu Dantata died at the age of 94 on June 28, 2025, as confirmed by his son, Sanusi Dantata. His remains were laid to rest in Medina, Saudi Arabia, on July 1, in a ceremony attended by top Nigerian dignitaries including Aliko Dangote, Governors Abba Kabir Yusuf and Umar Namadi, and former APC chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.
Dantata, a renowned figure in business and philanthropy, was celebrated for his contributions to the economy. He co-founded institutions like Jaiz Bank and Express Petroleum and played a key role in the formation of Nigeria’s former National Party.
President Tinubu’s visit follows a wave of tributes honoring Dantata’s legacy, including a past photo of the president respectfully bowing to the elder statesman—an image that has since resurfaced and gone viral online.
