Mohbad’s dad kicks against Lagos court’s suggestion to pick lab for DNA test, insist on having his own independent DNA test to determine paternity of Mohbad’s son

Joseph Aloba, the father of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, has kicked against the suggestion of the Lagos state High Court Ikorodu to unilaterally pick a DNA test lab abroad where the test to determine the paternity of Liam, the three year old son of the late singer, can be done.

Recall that at the last hearing, the court gave an approval for Mr Aloba, Wunmi and the state government to each provide a DNA center abroad where a DNA test can be held.

However, at the resumed hearing of the case some days ago, Mr Aloba and his lawyer argued that the test centers provided by Wunmi and the state government do not conduct tissue-based DNA test and if they are allowed to conduct the test, the results may be inaccurate,

Mr ALoba’s lawyer who spoke to newsmen after the court sitting, said the court upheld their objections and offered to provide a DNA test center that will carry out the test and forfeit all the ones provided by Mr Aloba, Wunmi and the Lagos state Welfare department.

The lawyer revealed that Mr Aloba has agreed to the court’s offer only on the condition that he will be allowed to pick a center for the DNA test to be conducted. He argued that Wunmi has done a private DNA test and that he, Mr Aloba, wants a DNA test whereby tissue cells will be extracted from the late singer’s body and compared to that of Liam.

The lawyer stated that the case has been adjourned to May 5 to ascertain if Wunmi would agree to allow samples be taken from her son for the private DNA test Mr Aloba wishes to conduct.
