In 24 Years, You Couldn’t Eradicate Poverty – APC Slams Atiku, El-Rufai, Amaechi Over Tinubu Criticism

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded fiercely to criticisms directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, defending his ongoing economic reforms and calling out Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Nasir El-Rufai for what the party describes as their failure to deliver results despite decades in power.

In a statement issued on Monday by APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party accused the three political figures of hypocrisy and desperation for power, pointing out that each of them occupied influential positions between 1999 and 2023, yet failed to address Nigeria’s deep-rooted poverty and structural issues.

💬 “They Failed for 24 Years” – APC Blasts Critics

“In all 24 years, the trio, individually or collectively, could not and did not eradicate poverty in their states or the country,” the statement read.

“They engaged in corrupt and wasteful expenditures, sold national assets to cronies, and resorted to state violence. They are now trying to rewrite history by blaming President Tinubu, who is working to fix the damage they left behind.”

The party described Rotimi Amaechi’s long political career as a “quarter-century of freeloading,” questioning his recent comment that he is “hungry.”

“When Amaechi declared, ‘I am hungry,’ he meant he is desperate to return to his entitled dependency on state resources and patronage,” Morka said.

The APC maintained that President Tinubu’s policies, including the floating of the naira and fuel subsidy removal, are correcting years of economic mismanagement and laying a solid foundation for a production-driven economy.

“Unlike past leaders who kept the naira artificially strong, President Tinubu has allowed market forces to determine its value. This will incentivize local production, attract investments, and ultimately reduce poverty,” the statement added.

The APC also took aim at Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, calling them products of the same import-dependent system they now criticize.

“Atiku, a former customs officer, and Obi, a successful importer, built their wealth on the old system. Their current opposition reeks of self-interest masked as public concern.”

🧱 “Tinubu Building Real Solutions”

The ruling party concluded by praising Tinubu’s political will to confront tough challenges head-on, stating:

“In just two years, President Tinubu has done more to dismantle poverty and reform the economy than any administration in recent memory. His bold steps are building a future of sustainable growth and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.”
