“He Jumped on the Baggage Conveyor Belt” – Air Peace Fires Back at Oshiomhole Over Alleged Flight Disruption

Leading Nigerian airline, Air Peace, has issued a strong rebuttal to allegations made by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, accusing the former Edo State governor of causing a scene at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos after missing his flight to Abuja.

In a fiery statement released Wednesday night, Air Peace accused the lawmaker of arriving late, disrupting operations, and making false claims about extortion and mismanagement.

According to the airline, Oshiomhole arrived after the check-in had closed and, upon being denied boarding, allegedly incited other passengers and blocked airport operations.

“Senator Oshiomhole lied blatantly when he accused Air Peace of extorting its passengers. We challenge him to bring just one evidence of a passenger that was extorted,” the statement read.

Air Peace firmly denied claims of overbooking or reselling seats, stating that over 30 seats were empty on the flight in question. The airline emphasized its commitment to on-time performance, stating it would never delay a flight for profit.

“It would have been in our interest to accommodate Senator Oshiomhole and others who missed the flight due to lateness. But we will never compromise our policies for any reason,” the airline added.

The most striking revelation from the airline was its claim that Oshiomhole jumped on the baggage conveyor belt, blocking the check-in counter and barricaded the terminal entrance, thereby disrupting other passengers and flight operations.

“He was not fighting for anyone. He came late and created chaos. His behavior was very violent, unbecoming, and shameful,” the statement said.

Air Peace has called on the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to release CCTV footage of the incident to prove the airline’s claims and clarify what transpired.

This heated exchange has sparked debate online, with many Nigerians demanding accountability from public figures and calling for improved discipline and transparency in air travel.
