“China Is Supplying Iran With Missiles Knowing They Will Be Used Against American Troops” – U.S. Senator Tom Cotton Alleges
United States Senator Tom Cotton has raised alarms over growing military cooperation between China and Iran, claiming that Beijing is directly aiding Tehran’s missile program, fully aware the weapons may be used against American troops, allies, and civilians in the Middle East.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Cotton stated:
“China is supplying Iran with missiles, knowing full well that they will be used against American troops, our allies, and civilians across the region. President Trump is absolutely right to put maximum pressure on Iran’s terrorist regime.”
Report: Iran Orders Missile Chemicals from China
According to the Wall Street Journal, Iran has ordered thousands of tons of ammonium perchlorate, a key component in producing solid-fuel ballistic missiles, from Chinese suppliers. Intelligence analysts estimate that this shipment alone could enable Iran to build up to 800 missiles.
Missiles May Reach Proxy Groups Like Houthis
Some of these materials are expected to be diverted to Iran’s proxy militias across the region—particularly the Houthis in Yemen, who have already launched missile attacks on Israel and other regional targets.
This development comes as Iran continues to rebuild its missile infrastructure, damaged by Israeli airstrikes in previous years. It also coincides with stalled nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Khamenei Rejects Nuclear Limits
Efforts to revise the 2015 Iran nuclear deal have faltered after Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei dismissed a proposed framework that would have capped uranium enrichment levels in exchange for sanctions relief.
China Responds: “We’re Unaware”
In response to the Wall Street Journal report, China’s Foreign Ministry claimed it was unaware of such a contract and emphasized that it maintains strict controls on dual-use exports. However, the report adds to growing concerns over China’s military involvement in the Middle East.
U.S. Imposes New Sanctions
In retaliation, the U.S. government has announced fresh sanctions targeting Iran’s missile supply networks, further tightening pressure on Tehran’s weapons procurement routes.
Bipartisan Concern Grows in Washington
Senator Cotton’s comments underscore a rising bipartisan consensus in Washington that maximum pressure—through diplomatic isolation, economic sanctions, and military readiness—is necessary to deter Iran’s regional aggression and prevent further escalation.
