“Stop the Attack Against Iran Now” – President Tinubu Warns Israel as Middle East Tensions Explode

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a strong warning to Israel, urging an immediate halt to its military offensive against Iran as fears of a full-scale regional war continue to rise.

The warning was delivered on Saturday, June 14, through an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa. The Nigerian government condemned Israel’s recent preemptive airstrikes on Iranian soil, which have triggered a fierce wave of retaliatory missile exchanges.

The government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria condemns Israel’s preemptive strike on Iran that has led to an escalation of hostilities,” the statement read.
Nigeria expresses its grave concern and calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities. Both parties must exercise utmost restraint in the interest of regional and global peace.

Nigeria Calls for Diplomacy, Warns of Global Consequences

The statement emphasized Nigeria’s firm stance on peaceful conflict resolution, rejecting the use of military force in international disputes. The Federal Government warned that the ongoing exchange of aerial and missile assaults poses a dangerous threat—not just to the Middle East, but to global stability and economic growth.

Military action is not a substitute for negotiation,” Nigeria stressed.
“We urge both nations to embrace diplomacy, mutual respect, and international law as the only path to sustainable peace.”

President Tinubu’s administration also called on the United Nations Security Council and the international community to intervene and encourage direct peace talks between Tehran and Tel Aviv.

Over 100 Iranian Targets Hit — Top Generals Reportedly Killed

The strong diplomatic reaction comes just a day after Israel launched a devastating air campaign, reportedly hitting over 100 Iranian military and nuclear facilities. Iranian sources confirmed the deaths of several top officials, including General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, and Hossein Salami, Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei described the assault as a “declaration of war,” vowing that Israel would face “bitter and painful” retaliation.

Iran’s military high command also issued a chilling warning, promising “no limits” in their upcoming response.

Global Alarm Over Rising War Risk

With regional tensions now at a critical point, Nigeria joins the growing international chorus pleading for de-escalation, ceasefire, and diplomatic resolution. The potential for a broader conflict involving other powers—such as the U.S., Russia, and China—has sent shockwaves through global markets and security circles.

Nigeria stands ready to support all genuine efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and promoting peace in the region,” the statement concluded.
