Ali baba Slams Unruly Nigerian Comedians for Lack of Professionalism
Veteran Nigerian comedian Ali baba has openly criticized a group of unnamed comedians for their lack of decorum and professionalism, especially when handling corporate events.
Speaking on the recent episode of the Outside The Box Podcast, the âKing of Comedyâ lamented how some of his younger colleagues cross the line with offensive and insensitive jokes, tarnishing the industryâs reputation.
Recalling a particular incident, Alibaba shared how he recommended a comedian for a corporate event, only to later receive complaints that the comedian had made a distasteful joke about the chairmanâs plus-size wife, saying:
âIf a race happens now and everyone has to carry their wives and run, you canât carry this woman and run.â
Alibaba said that when he confronted the comedian, the latter brushed off the criticism, claiming Alibaba was simply jealous of his rising success.
âThere are about three comedians I canât stand. They have no decorum. They insult sensibilities. You correct them, they wonât listen. You send them to a corporate event and they do dirty jokes.â
While refusing to name the comedians involved to avoid damaging their careers, Alibaba emphasized that comedians must know where to draw the line, urging them to make intelligent and tasteful jokes that respect boundaries, especially in formal or sensitive settings.
