“We Are Our Own Problem” – Moses Paul Reacts as Over 200 Nigerians Are Slaughtered in Benue Attack

Dr. Moses Paul, known on X (formerly Twitter) as @Drmopaul, has reacted with heartbreak and fury following reports that over 200 Nigerians were killed in recent attacks on communities in Benue State.

The tragic incident, linked to escalating clashes between herders and local residents, has sparked outrage among concerned citizens, though official figures remain inconsistent — with some sources citing more than 100 casualties, and others confirming over 200 dead, including soldiers, women, children, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).

In a widely shared post, Dr. Paul condemned the silence and misplaced priorities of many Nigerians who are more focused on international conflicts than the bloodshed happening at home.

“While some Nigerians are busy fighting one another on social media, shouting over Israel and Iran — two nations with governments that defend their people — back home, over 200 innocent Nigerians have been butchered in Benue,” he wrote.

He issued a bold challenge to the conscience of the nation, asking, “Where is the outrage for Benue? Where are the endless debates? Where are the hashtags? Where is the government? Where is the Church? Where are the Mosques? Where are the people?”

Dr. Paul didn’t spare the government either, declaring, “A government that cannot protect its citizens has failed. Security is not a privilege. It is the most basic responsibility of leadership.”

In his final remarks, he turned the mirror on Nigerian society: “Until we value Nigerian lives like we value foreign lives, we will keep mourning. Until we speak with one voice against injustice at home, our own blood will continue to flow. We are our own problem. We are our own enablers.”

He ended the post by sharing a screenshot of the message on his official X handle, a call to collective awakening and national soul-searching.
