“Don’t Just Hit the Nukes—End the Regime Too”: Mosab Yousef Warns Against Half-Measures in Iran

Renowned activist and former Hamas insider, Mosab Hassan Yousef, has issued a stern warning about the consequences of targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities without also removing the country’s ruling regime.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Yousef argued that any isolated military strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure could backfire—prolonging the suffering of the Iranian people if the Ayatollah’s regime remains in power.

“Succeeding in destroying the nuclear program but failing to overthrow the Ayatollah could keep the Iranian people under his wrath for much longer,” he stated.

According to Yousef, the true path to liberation lies not just in neutralizing Iran’s weapons program, but in dismantling the regime that enables it. He called for a dual-pronged strategy—one that eliminates both the nuclear threat and the authoritarian rule.

“Take both targets out simultaneously,” he urged, adding that such an approach could finally bring peace and stability to Iran and the broader Middle East.

Yousef believes that tackling only one aspect of the issue would be a short-sighted move, leaving the root causes of oppression and conflict intact.

“The ultimate goal should be to free the Iranian people—and the Middle East—from decades of tyranny, conflict, and fear,” he concluded.

As debates over Iran’s nuclear ambitions intensify on the global stage, Yousef’s warning serves as a sobering reminder: partial solutions may only deepen the crisis.
