Troops have neutralised 12 armed bandits in a successful coordinated operation across Kurfi and Safana Local Government Areas of Katsina State, recovering multiple weapons and rustled cattle.
According to Punch News on June 18th, 2025, the Katsina State Government confirmed the development through a statement issued by the Commissioner for Internal Security And Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu.
The commissioner said the joint security operation followed early morning intelligence reports of bandit movements threatening residents in Rahamawa Village via Kuraye District in Charanchi Local Government Area.
“Armed bandits attacked Rahamawa Village at approximately 5:40 AM, severely injuring 60-year-old Alhaji Danmalam and making away with 22 cattle,” the statement read.
Dr. Mu’azu disclosed that a joint response team comprising the Nigerian Army, Police, Community Watch Corps, and Local Vigilantes mobilised immediately and confronted the criminals at Dutsen Falale, a notorious hideout between Kurfi and Safana.
During the gun duel, 12 bandits were neutralised, while five AK-47 rifles, several rounds of ammunition, and all 22 rustled cattle were recovered. Despite the operational success, the attack also came at a cost.
