Police Rescue 4-Year-Old Girl, Bust Fake Kidnap Ring, Recover Over $46,000 in Counterfeit Dollars Across Nigeria (Video)
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has recorded major breakthroughs in its ongoing fight against crime across the country. These include the dramatic rescue of a 4-year-old girl, the exposure of a fake kidnap scheme, the recovery of illegal firearms, and the arrest of suspected fraudsters found with counterfeit US dollars.
The update was shared in a statement released on Friday, June 21, 2025, by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi. He described the successes as proof that intelligence-led policing is working and reaffirmed the force’s commitment to keeping Nigerian communities safe.
Fake Kidnap Plot Uncovered in Katsina
In Katsina State, the Police unraveled a staged kidnapping case involving two sisters aged 14 and 4. The incident began on February 20 when their father, Alhaji Badamasi Bala, reported them missing.
After several weeks, the 14-year-old returned home. Upon investigation, it was discovered she had conspired with three individuals (aged 25, 19, and 16) to fake the kidnapping and hide her younger sister.
The 4-year-old was rescued unharmed, and all those involved were arrested and are currently in custody.
Gunrunner Escapes in Nasarawa, AK-47 Rifle Recovered
In Nasarawa State, Police received credible intelligence about an arms trafficker. Officers mounted an ambush along the Giza–Kadarko Road in Keana Local Government Area.
A suspect on an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle was intercepted. However, he abandoned the motorcycle and fled into nearby bushland. Upon searching the bike, Police recovered:

The suspect is currently at large as a manhunt continues.
Counterfeit Dollar Syndicate Busted in Jigawa
In Jigawa State, security operatives carried out a coordinated raid in Kankare and Zurkuda villages within Birnin Kudu Local Government Area. Seven suspects were arrested in connection with a large-scale fraud operation.
Recovered from the suspects were:

Documents linked to e-fraud and identity theft
All suspects are being interrogated by Police authorities.
IGP Reassures Nigerians of Police Commitment
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the efforts of the officers involved in these operations and reassured Nigerians that the Police will continue to prioritize public safety through proactive intelligence gathering, quick response tactics, and collaboration with local communities.
