We Were Celebrating Our Traditional Wedding — Then His Real Wife Stormed the Venue with Their Children
Everything was perfect. The decorations, the music, the matching aso-ebi. I was about to become Mrs. Johnson. After dating for two years, I finally thought I had found my forever. But I didn’t know I was walking straight into disgrace.
We had just finished the traditional wine-carrying when a woman dressed in all black stormed in with three children behind her. The music stopped. People turned. She screamed, “So this is why you’ve been hiding your phone, Charles?!”
My heart dropped. Charles, my groom, stood frozen.
The woman pushed through the crowd and threw an envelope at me. Inside were photocopies of her marriage certificate, pictures of their wedding, and even birth certificates of their kids — one of them just 8 months old.
It felt like a scene from a Nollywood movie.
Guests started murmuring. My father walked out in shame. My mother collapsed. And me? I stood there, shaking, wearing gele and gold lace, with tears ruining my makeup.
Charles tried to talk, but no one wanted to listen. His real wife slapped him, grabbed his collar, and dragged him outside. The children were crying. The event ended in chaos.
I still don’t know how to recover from this. I was almost married to a man who already had a full family.
