Tehran Bombed by Israel, Killing Two Senior Intelligence Officials as Ceasefire Talks Falter

Israel launched a series of intense airstrikes targeting key Iranian security and military sites in Tehran, resulting in the deaths of two high-ranking Iranian officials.According to Al Jazeera, Iran confirmed that Alireza Lotfi, deputy head of intelligence at the national police force, was killed in the attack. Additionally, Mohammad Taghi Yousefvand, head of the intelligence protection department of the Basij paramilitary force under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), also died as a result of the strikes.

The Israeli military stated that the operations targeted regime assets and terror infrastructure in the heart of Iran’s capital. These strikes were part of a broader campaign that included hits on the Fordo nuclear facility, the Basij headquarters, and the notorious Evin Prison, which Israel described as a site holding regime enemies.
