Mystery Buyer Pays ₦45 Million for Car, Then Vanishes Without a Trace — Dealer Seeks Help
In a bizarre twist that has left many stunned, a Nigerian car dealer has revealed that a customer paid ₦45 million for a vehicle in 2023 and has not been seen or heard from since.
According to a NewsVista report, the dealer, Uchenna Odu, shared the puzzling story on social media, saying the client walked into his dealership, completed payment for the expensive car—and then disappeared without collecting it.
“We’ve been trying to reach him ever since,” Odu wrote in a now-viral post on X (formerly Twitter). “Calls, texts, even reaching out through his bank… nothing. The man just ghosted us.”
Even more baffling is that the buyer is reportedly an orphan, making it even harder to track down family or contacts who might know his whereabouts.
“A client paid for a vehicle worth ₦45 million and ghosted us since 2023,” Odu said. “We sincerely don’t know what to do anymore.”
Photos shared by the dealer show various luxury cars still on his lot, including the one the mystery client paid for. The vehicle has been untouched for over a year, and the dealership is now seeking advice from the public on how best to handle the situation.
Online Reactions: Ghost Buyer or Something Worse?
Social media users were quick to weigh in, offering a mix of jokes, concern, and speculation.
Some feared the man may have met with an unfortunate fate. One user wrote:
“Hope baba no be akúdàya [wandering ghost] wey wan make una help am keep money for him wife and children.”
Others offered practical advice, suggesting that the dealer invest the money while waiting for the owner’s return.
“Sell the car. Put the money in a safe, interest-earning account,” another commenter said. “If he ever shows up, you return the value.”
One particularly thoughtful comment shared a similar story:
“My mechanic once had a customer who abandoned his car for three years. No calls, no messages. Eventually, the man resurfaced—it turned out he had been in prison.”
A Strange but Cautionary Tale
Whether the man is alive, abroad, ill, or worse remains unknown. But the story has sparked a wider conversation about asset abandonment and the importance of follow-up, even in big-ticket transactions.
For now, Uchenna Odu and his team continue to wait—and hope—for answers.
