Air India: Man Dies Alongside Wife and Young Son in Plane Crash Five Days After Birthday Party
What began as a moment of joy ended in unimaginable heartbreak.
Just five days after celebrating his 48th birthday, Pramukh Nanda — a respected Indian automobile dealer — lost his life alongside his wife, Neha, and their young son, Pravesh, in the tragic Air India plane crash that shook the nation on June 12, 2025.
According to NewsVista sources, the family had boarded an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. Their destination? London — where their eldest son, Pratham, was set to graduate from university.
They never made it.
Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft crashed into the BJ Medical College and Hospital in Ahmedabad, bursting into flames. Of the 242 passengers on board, only one person survived.
For 22-year-old Pratham, what should have been the proudest day of his academic life has become a moment drenched in grief. In the space of minutes, he lost his entire immediate family.
“It was supposed to be a family reunion to celebrate his achievements. Now, he’s left to pick up the pieces — and take over a business empire his father built with decades of hard work,” a close family friend told NewsVista.
Pramukh Nanda was no ordinary businessman.
A key figure in India’s automobile industry, he ran multiple dealerships under the Cargo Group name, with strong affiliations to major auto brands like Tata Motors, Mahindra, and Tata Commercial. His operations spanned Gujarat, Delhi, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
His death has left a vacuum in the business world.
Pranav Shah, chairman of the Federation of Automobile Dealers’ Association (FADA) in Gujarat, described him as “a pillar of knowledge and support — not just in Gujarat, but across the country. His legacy was one of growth, innovation, and mentorship.”
Hitendra Nanavati, another council member of FADA, added: “This is a loss that cuts deep. He was a second-generation entrepreneur from a deeply respected family.”
Meanwhile, Air India has released a statement regarding compensation to victims’ families, though details remain under public scrutiny.
The crash also claimed other innocent lives.
In a related tragedy, NewsVista confirms that a teenage boy, Akash Patni, who had been resting near his family’s tea stall at the time of the crash, was among the victims. His mother, Sita, who suffered severe injuries, is currently in ICU — still unaware that her son died just metres away from her.
The city of Ahmedabad mourns. The entire nation watches in shock.
This tragic crash is a stark reminder that life is fragile — and sometimes, even moments meant for celebration can end in sorrow.
