Benue: They Killed My Two Wives And My Child, My Wife Was Pregnant, They Killed Her And Child – Husband

According to a NewsVista reporter, fresh tragedy has struck Benue State as grieving survivors recount the nightmare they lived through when suspected herdsmen invaded a quiet village in Guma Local Government Area during a late-night rainstorm.

Among those shattered by the incident is a heartbroken man who lost nearly everything. Struggling to keep his composure, he told reporters, “They killed my two wives and my child. One of my wives was pregnant when they attacked. They killed her and the unborn child.” His voice trembled, soaked in sorrow.

The brutal attack happened while most residents were asleep. The rain provided cover for the assailants, who stormed the village under the cloak of darkness. According to local witnesses, gunshots rang out as homes were set ablaze and people fled in terror.

The violence, believed to be part of ongoing herder-farmer clashes in the region, has once again left the community in mourning and disarray. Many have now taken refuge in nearby internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, fearing the possibility of another invasion.

A community elder, visibly frustrated, asked a haunting question that echoes across Benue: “How long shall we continue to bury our people without any consequences for the killers?”

In response, the Benue State government strongly condemned the attack and has called on federal security agencies to take immediate action. Authorities are urging the deployment of more troops to restore peace and protect vulnerable rural communities that have become repeated targets of violence.

As Benue reels from yet another bloodshed, the cries for justice grow louder, and the pain of loss becomes a shared burden for an already battered people.
