I’m More Successful Now Than with Psquare
Singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has responded fiercely to his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, saying his solo career has brought him more financial success and personal peace than his time with the now-defunct Psquare.
The back-and-forth began after Jude shared a cryptic Instagram post, accusing certain unnamed individuals â widely interpreted to include Peter and singer Cynthia Morgan â of being âgreedy,â âbroke,â and âungratefulâ after parting ways with him.
âThey were big and successful when I was shouldering them⌠They left, bragged about freedom. Years later, they fell off the wagon and became broke⌠Instead of accepting responsibility, they blame the same person they left,â Jude wrote.
Peter Responds with Receipts
Reacting in a Facebook post on Monday, Peter rejected the âbrokeâ label, accusing Jude of spinning false narratives to deflect attention from his ongoing legal troubles with the EFCC.
âCalling me broke or wishing I was broke has been your wish. These are the same words you told the EFCC⌠and you ended up in prison,â he wrote.
He went on to clarify Judeâs role, insisting he was simply a hired manager, not a benefactor.
âYou were employed as a manager, and you got sacked like the two before you. Period!â
âI Now Earn More as a Solo Artistâ
In what appeared to be a direct comparison, Mr P claimed that his solo music career and business ventures now earn him more than the group ever did, especially after splitting earnings three ways.
âWhat I now earn on my own as a solo artist today is more than what I used to earn after splitting three ways as Psquare plus the so-called manager.â
He added that the solo path has brought him peace, clarity, and financial independence, unlike the drama-filled era of Psquare.
âThis solo journey has been more rewarding and profitable, both financially and personally⌠and it has brought peace of mind.â
âRespect Me or Get Cut Offâ
Peter ended his post with a stern warning, saying heâs done playing the âmatureâ sibling. He emphasized that he now matches energy and wonât tolerate disrespect.
âI have stopped playing nice while getting disrespected! Cross me, I cut you off. Life is not about begging for fair treatment.â
Background: Legal Battle with EFCC
Peterâs comments come amid a high-profile EFCC case against Jude Okoye. Jude is currently being prosecuted for theft and money laundering, based on a petition reportedly filed by Peter.
The charges allege the unlawful conversion of over $1 million, ÂŁ34,000, and âŚ1.38 billion in music royalties, including the acquisition of an âŚ850 million property suspected to be from illegal proceeds.
Psquare Fallout: A Long History
This latest chapter adds to the turbulent family saga between Peter, Paul (Rudeboy), and Jude Okoye, which led to Psquareâs initial breakup in 2017. While the twin brothers reconciled publicly in 2021, their business ties with Jude remain broken and bitter.
It remains to be seen whether this family feud will escalate further, especially with ongoing legal proceedings.
