Lere Olayinka Reacts After Peter Obi Said He Will Bring Stability To Nigeria Within 2Years In Office
As Nigeria inches closer to the 2027 general elections, former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has declared that he can stabilize Nigeria within two years if elected president.
According to NewsVista reports, the bold promise surfaced in a social media post by Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who also shared a screenshot from Tribune Online with the headline:
“2027: I’ll bring stability to Nigeria within two years in office – Obi.”
Obi, known for his meticulous leadership style during his time as Anambra governor from 2006 to 2010, referenced his ability to navigate difficult political terrain — including an impeachment and subsequent reinstatement — as evidence of his capacity to manage national crises.
“My experience in Anambra shows I can deliver stability even under challenging conditions,” Obi was quoted as saying in a Tribune Online report dated June 30, 2025.
However, not everyone was impressed.
Lere Olayinka, known for his sharp-tongued political commentary, dismissed Obi’s statement with biting sarcasm. In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Olayinka wrote:
“Person wey no fit bring stability to ordinary political party. Mtcheeeeew.”
The remark appears to reference perceived internal wrangling and disunity within the Labour Party since Obi’s 2023 presidential bid — a situation critics have cited to question his leadership depth beyond campaign rhetoric.
Despite the criticism, Obi’s supporters remain firm, pointing to his record of fiscal discipline, public-sector reforms, and relative stability during his Anambra administration. Many argue that his technocratic approach offers a clear departure from the status quo.
Political observers say the clash between Obi and Wike’s camp is a reflection of early tensions ahead of what may become a highly polarised 2027 election. While Obi continues to rally support with promises of reform and national healing, opponents are wasting no time challenging his credibility and track record.
As the election season draws closer, the conversation around leadership, stability, and national direction is just beginning.
