Lere Olayinka Reacts After Peter Obi Asked ‘What Trade Is The President Looking For In St. Lucia?’ –
In response, Lere Olayinka, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s spokesperson, posted on X, quoting Obi’s query, “What trade is the president looking for in St. Lucia?” Olayinka reacted, writing, “Giringori or Clarus thinks everything is about a State producing beer.”
The Nigerian Presidency defended the visit, announced on June 29, 2025, as a historic diplomatic milestone. A statement from State House Abuja as reported by The Sun highlighted its purpose: “Engagement with the Nigerian community in Saint Lucia… further strengthening the ties between the two nations.” It noted Saint Lucia’s rare hosting of fewer than 10 state visits since 1979 and Tinubu’s address to its Parliament as key events. The visit also is said to align with Saint Lucia’s role in the $130 billion CARICOM economy, suggesting potential trade benefits.
