Breaking: Buhari’s ex-Minister Dumps APC, Defects to ADC
According to a NewsVista report, former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has officially left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He announced the move in a Facebook post on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
Malami, who served as Minister of Justice under former President Muhammadu Buhari, said his decision wasn’t driven by anger or disappointment but by a deep desire to serve Kebbi State and Nigeria better.
“I am joining the ADC to be part of a new coalition committed to rescuing Nigeria from further decline,” he wrote, adding that the country’s current struggles—ranging from insecurity to rising poverty—require a bold political shift.
The move is seen as a major boost to the ADC, which is at the center of a growing opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
