Did Tinubu Order Investigation of Wike Over Alleged Land Grabbing for Son? FCT Minister Speaks

According to a NewsVista reporter, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has denied allegations that he secretly allocated over 2,000 hectares of prime Abuja land to his son, Joaquin.

Speaking during a media chat in Abuja on Thursday, July 3, Wike dismissed the viral claim as a cooked-up story, allegedly sponsored by a “failed politician” from Adamawa state trying to tarnish his name.

The rumour, which first spread online on June 26, accused Wike of awarding land worth over $3.6 billion in Maitama, Asokoro, and other high-profile areas. The unnamed media outlet also claimed the land was shared among his family in defiance of federal guidelines.

But Wike didn’t hold back in his response. “Let them bring their evidence,” he said, visibly unbothered. “If the president has set up a committee to investigate, let them invite me. Some people think President Tinubu doesn’t have serious work to do.”

He firmly stated that President Tinubu remains confident in his leadership and has raised no complaints about his performance as FCT Minister.

Meanwhile, controversy continues to follow Wike. Social media activist VeryDarkMan recently led a protest to his office over the FCT’s refusal to pay area council teachers the new minimum wage, accusing Wike of threatening to withhold 10% of local revenue.

Wike, however, remains defiant, brushing off both allegations and protests as political noise.
