2027 Election: Wike Fires ADC Coalition in Viral Video
According to a NewsVista report, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has thrown a heavy jab at opposition figures forming alliances ahead of the 2027 presidential election, accusing them of being driven by selfish motives rather than national interest.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service at St. James Anglican Church in Asokoro on Sunday, July 6, Wike celebrated the successful commissioning of 17 projects across the FCT under the Tinubu administration. But he used the moment to question the integrity of politicians who jump from party to party.
âIn 1999, you were in this party. In 2006, another. 2014, you switched again. Now in 2025, youâre joining a new coalition claiming to ârescueâ Nigeria? No, youâre rescuing your stomach,â Wike declared, drawing laughter and applause from the congregation.
His comments come days after a coalition of opposition leaders formally adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their political vehicle for the 2027 election. Prominent attendees at the coalition launch included former APC chairman John Oyegun, ex-Justice Minister Abubakar Malami, and former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi.
Wike dismissed their chances, predicting failure. He reiterated his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and praised the administrationâs reforms, including the refurbishment of the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja. According to him, the newly renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu ICC has already generated over N700 million in just three weeks, compared to the N50 million annual payment under the previous management.
