“How ADC Coalition Is Uniting Politicians From Various Backgrounds, Ideologies,” Analyst Explains

According to NewsVista reports, political analyst Kelly Agaba has defended the recent adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) by Nigeria’s opposition coalition, calling it a “strategic alliance for national redemption.”

Agaba, who coordinates the Citizens Coalition, said the move brings together political gladiators from different backgrounds under one vision—to rescue Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In an interview with NewsVista, Agaba explained that the Atiku Abubakar-led alliance is focused on reshaping the ADC’s ideology to better reflect the country’s complexities. “It’s a people-driven project,” he said, “not a gathering of power-hungry elites.”

Referencing scripture, Agaba noted, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” and added that the coalition has found unity in purpose—to fight against what he called “economic terrorism and prejudice.”

He praised the interim national chairman, a former Senate President, as a seasoned strategist capable of navigating Nigeria’s complex political terrain.

The coalition, which includes heavyweights like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi, has already drawn strong reactions from the APC and PDP camps. Governor Sanwo-Olu and other critics dismissed the alliance as a distraction with no real agenda.

Meanwhile, PDP chieftain Bode George slammed members still in the party but aligning with the ADC, warning they “can’t serve two masters.”

Despite the backlash, the ADC coalition continues talks with at least five sitting governors—setting the stage for what may become Nigeria’s most dramatic political showdown in 2027.
