2027 Elections: Atiku’s Aide Explains How ADC Presidential Candidate Will Emerge
According to NewsVista, Paul Ibe, spokesperson to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has clarified that only party delegates will decide who emerges as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate in 2027—not political noise or public speculation.
As talk of rivalry between Atiku, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi heats up, Ibe assured that there is no internal crisis. He explained that the coalition within ADC was built on the foundation of sacrifice and unity to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
In his interview with Trust TV, Ibe addressed concerns about tensions among the aspirants, saying that such competition is normal in democracy. He emphasized that what truly matters is that supporters focus on campaigning, while delegates do their job at the primaries.
“In the end, it’s democracy. The delegates—whether through direct or indirect primaries—will decide the fate of these aspirants,” he said.
He also pushed back on growing fears of a one-party state under Tinubu’s administration, warning that democracy must offer people real choices. According to him, the ADC coalition remains committed to offering Nigerians a credible alternative in 2027.
Meanwhile, NewsVista gathered that activist Aisha Yesufu and Interim ADC Chairman, Senator David Mark, have both called for transparency and fairness in choosing the coalition’s presidential flagbearer—urging members to rally behind whoever emerges through a people-driven process.
