Peter Obi Goes Viral for Serving Food at Imo Event — Nigerians React to “Real Humility or Political Strategy?”

According to a NewsVista reporter, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has once again stirred conversation online — this time not for a speech, but for an act of service.

In a trending video from Umuchima, Imo State, Obi was seen carrying a food tray and personally dishing meals to guests at an event. The footage quickly sparked a wave of reactions, with many Nigerians praising his humility and servant-leadership style.

“This is the kind of simplicity we need in power,” one user wrote on X. Another added, “He’s the only politician that actually acts like a citizen, not a king.”

But not everyone was convinced.

Critics called it political theatre, accusing Obi of trying too hard to win favor ahead of the 2027 elections. “Where was all this when he wasn’t contesting?” one commenter asked.

The outing comes shortly after Obi entered coalition talks with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), fueling further speculation that he’s gearing up for another presidential run.

Though he hasn’t declared officially, many see his renewed grassroots appearances as a sign of strategic political moves — blending humility with high-level ambition.

Whether it’s genuine or not, one thing is clear: Peter Obi knows how to stay in the headlines.
