I Was Carrying Pregnancy for Twins — The Day After My Mother-in-Law Visited, I Had a Miscarriage

I was 4 months pregnant — full of joy, full of dreams. The scan confirmed twins. It felt like God had doubled my blessings after two years of waiting.

My husband and I were over the moon. We had already picked names — one Yoruba, one English. We even started clearing out a room for the babies.

Then, my mother-in-law came.

She claimed it was a “surprise visit,” but her energy was cold. From the moment she stepped in, she said things like:

“Are you sure it’s twins? Not fibroid mixed with pregnancy?”
“Women these days just want to use babies to tie down a man.”

I laughed it off — until that night.

She insisted on cooking for me, even though I wasn’t hungry. She dropped something under my pillow while I was in the bathroom. When I asked her what it was, she said,

“It’s nothing, just local herbs for strength.”

The next morning, I woke up bleeding heavily.

We rushed to the hospital. Both babies were gone.

I cried like I had lost my soul. My husband was speechless. When I mentioned the herbs and the strange smell in our bedroom, he told me,

“Don’t accuse my mother of anything spiritual.”

But deep down, I know.

I saw the look in her eyes when the doctor confirmed I was pregnant with twins. It wasn’t joy — it was jealousy.
