Prophet Scammer Busted After Demanding N9.2M to Clear Dead Man’s ‘Spiritual Debt’
According to a NewsVista reporter, a 25-year-old self-styled prophet has been arrested in Zimbabwe after defrauding a woman of $2,800 (over N4 million), claiming her late father owed him a mysterious “spiritual debt.”
The victim, 27-year-old Pride Gamure, had visited the supposed prophet, Tinashe Aiumando, for spiritual cleansing. During the session, she was told by Aiumando and his accomplice that her deceased father owed $6,000 in spiritual obligations — a debt she needed to clear to avoid disaster.
Driven by fear, Pride sent part of the money — $2,800 — through her brother. But soon after, she began to suspect foul play and contacted police. The authorities moved in quickly, arresting Aiumando and recovering a portion of the money.
In court, the fake prophet confessed that it was all a scam, admitting he made up the prophecy. He was sentenced to 440 hours of community service and ordered to repay the remaining funds.
This dramatic case has reignited conversations online about spiritual scams and blind faith, with many urging people to be cautious and not fall victim to fear-based manipulation.
