Ibom Air Drama: “I Bought My Ticket With My Money—Why Treat Me Like This?” – Passenger Lashes Out
A recent Ibom Air flight turned tense when Miss Comfort Obasi Emmanson confronted airline staff over what she described as unfair treatment, sparking debates about customer rights in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
Legal practitioner Dr. David Ogebe, who sat beside Emmanson during the trip, shared his eyewitness account in an interview with Channels TV.
“She Felt Targeted From the Start”
Dr. Ogebe revealed that Emmanson appeared upset even before take-off.
“She kept murmuring angrily, using harsh language, though not at anyone in particular. I was seated beside her, so I could hear every word,” he said.
According to him, she insisted she had paid for her ticket herself and couldn’t understand why she was being singled out.
Two Flight Attendants, Two Attitudes
The lawyer contrasted the actions of the crew:
-
First Attendant: Professional, calm, and helpful—assisting Emmanson in storing her bags politely.
-
Second Attendant: Repeatedly peeped at their section, as if monitoring the passenger, and later became central to the confrontation.
As the plane approached landing, tension grew. Passengers nearby even joked about rushing off the plane to avoid being caught in “trouble.”
The Alleged Spiteful Block
Dr. Ogebe suspects the clash erupted after Emmanson left her seat to use the restroom. He claimed the second hostess deliberately positioned herself to block Emmanson from exiting the aircraft, describing it as “a spiteful move.”
The incident has since sparked debates online about how airlines handle customer dissatisfaction and whether passengers are truly respected in Nigerian air travel.
