General Apata’s Murder: I Was In The House When My Father Was Killed,I Can Never Get Over It—Niniola
A Star Shaped by Tragedy
For celebrated Nigerian singer Niniola Apata, success in music has not erased the deepest scar of her childhood: the brutal murder of her father, Brigadier-General Simeon Apata.
In a candid conversation with Jay On-Air TV, the Afro-house queen revealed that she was inside the house the day her father was killed — a memory that has haunted her ever since.
“I Was His Favourite, and I Saw It All”
Niniola, visibly emotional, explained that she was her father’s favourite child, making the loss almost unbearable.
“Of course I was in the house and I was his favourite child, so you can imagine. Everybody knows I was his favourite, and so till today I am not over it. I can never get over it. Never. I was really young, it was not a good memory but God bless his soul.”
Her confession paints a heartbreaking picture of a daughter forced to grow up carrying the weight of trauma most can only imagine.
A Memory That Never Fades
Though many years have passed, Niniola admitted that the pain and images of that day remain fresh. She said the tragedy struck when she was very young, leaving wounds time has failed to heal.
For her, every success in music is shadowed by the memory of a father she loved deeply and lost far too soon.
