Maswanhise reveals real focus amid Celtic transfer swirls as Motherwell star holds key summit

Motherwell forward Tawanda Maswanhise insists he is only focused on his form amid rising transfer speculation.
The Premiership’s top scorer has been touted with a move to the Scottish champions this month after Martin O’Neill was among those who watched the 23-year-old impress again at Fir Park earlier this month. Boss Jens Berthel Askou has played down the speculation and previously insisted that the summer sale of Lennon Miller means they’re under no pressure to sell this month.

The Steelmen are looking to hold onto the Zimbabwe international until at least the end of this season. But the Hoops, Rangers and a host of Championship clubs are said to be weighing up a move to test Motherwell’s resolve this month.
But the man at the centre of the saga is only concentrating on the Lanarkshire side. He said, “I am obviously happy with my form. I hope to continue on this path, scoring and assisting goals.”
Maswanhise was voted one of the most promising players at the African Cup of Nations. Zimbabwe coach Marian Marinica has revealed he held talks with the player in Scotland as part of a scouting mission.
He said: “I am happy with how Maswanhise is playing. He is always a fantastic player with a lot of focus. I am having a seven-day trip in Europe where I have to meet as many players as possible. I decided to start in Scotland, where I met with Tawanda Maswanhise and we had a fruitful discussion.”
Askou surprisingly hooked Motherwell’s star man during last weekend’s 4-0 rout of Kilmarnock, after Maswanhise netted his 16th league goal of the season.
